Social events
The social events of this year's ITP will consist of a reception at Prospect House, a canoeing/kayaking outing on the Delaware and Raritan Canal, and a BBQ on the shore of Carnegie Lake.
Reception at Prospect House
On
the eve of the conference, a reception will be held at
Prospect House (here), a 19th century Italianate
Victorian mansion in the heart of Princeton's
traditional campus. Weather permitting, the reception
will partly be held in the adjacent Prospect Garden, a
flower garden originally laid out by the wife of
Princeton University's 13th President (and 28th
US-President), Woodrow Wilson. Prospect house is located
here on the campus map. The receiption will be
open to participants of the conference as well as
the associated workshops and involve light food and
drinks.
Canoeing/kayaking on the Delaware and Raritan Canal, BBQ
Immediately following the conference presentations
on Tuesday, shuttle buses will take us to
the
Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park (here), dropping
us off at the docks of CanoeNJ (here).
Here, canoes and kayaks of various sizes will be
available (free of charge).
Conference attendees wishing to participate in this
activity will be required to sign a Release of
Liability Form, available from CanoeNJ's web
site here and also available on-site. In addition,
participants are advised to bring appropriate
clothing and shoes. Attendees preferring not to make use of the boats will
enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the history of
the park on foot. Following the exploration of the park will be the
Conference BBQ, on the shore of Carnegie Lake. It is
intended that boats do not have to be returned to the
docks but can be dropped off at the BBQ site. Transportation back to Nassau Inn and Scully Hall will
again be provided by shuttle buses. Alternatively, all
locations can easily reached by foot.
In case the weather forecast is significantly
better for the first or third day of the conference we
may modify the conference schedule on short notice and
move the excursion forward/backward. In this case,
some presentations may have to be rescheduled. We thus
ask the speakers of all afternoon sessions to be
prepared for this event. Should the entire week be a
washout, the BBQ will be held indoors and complemented
by some historical remarks on the developments in
logics and computer science in Princeton around 1935.
